The Institute of Chemical, Environmental and Bioscience Engineering at TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) for 30 hours/week (limited to expected 4 years; start date: immediately) under the supervision of Prof. Georg Pesch. The position is within the Research Unit Mechanical Process Engineering and Clean Air Technology. The research project focuses on the development of novel devices for the characterization and separation of biological cells using dielectrophoresis, with a focus on microfluidic applications.
Tasks:
- Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
- Supervision of students and bachelor/master theses
- Research and project activity
- Writing of scientific publications and a dissertation
- Participation in scientific events (conferences, symposia, etc.)
- Participation in organisational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Completion of a master’s or diploma degree in chemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable engineering discipline
- Very good theoretical foundations in chemical engineering combined with practical skills in the laboratory
- A strong interest in fundamental engineering research linked to biological applications.
- Experience in laboratory work is an advantage, especially in the fields of microfluidics and bioprocess engineering.
- Very good command of English (at least B2), German level of at least B1 is beneficial
- Interest in research in chemical engineering as well as in the supervision and work with students
- Very good communication skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
